I have long been a fan of the writings of Malcolm Gladwell. Therefore, with Outliers having only just recently left the Bestsellers list i was really pleased to see a new book – ‘What the Dog Saw’. It hasn’t let me down – I think it’s the most entertaining and thought provoking yet.
There is one chapter in particular which comes from an article i had read earlier, published in The New Yorker in December 2008
Amazingly, at one point in the piece Gladwell points out the somewhat shocking fact that more trouble and effort goes in to recruiting the people who look after others’ money than those who look after their children! There must be something wrong there, surely.
The piece is about 7 pages long, but i really encourage you to read it. It’s well worth it. I would love to hear your thoughts on how we might recruit educators for ‘withitness’.
