Seth Godin – The Red Lantern

I don’t have any idea whether Seth Godin knew it was ‘Teachers’ Day’ in India today. However, his blog post today is something I think ought to be read by every teacher (and every parent too):

  1. Briiliant and yes-the red lantern must be ack and rewarded and HOW Anuradha Kurup ________________________________

  2. Rewarding efforts and perseverance…what a genuine and most basic way to positive reinforcement..! And yet, despite the enormity of the idea in terms of logic and significance, it has been turned on its head and in its present twisted form ranks so low in terms of priority that it almost becomes irrelevant to the educators/parents! The biggest casualty in all this is a child’s character (that’s still ‘under-process’)…a child introduced to the cynicism of ‘competition’ so early on in his life is a most disappointing and disturbing aspect of an education system.
