Seth Godin’s Manifesto for Education

I’ve written in the past here on the blog about Seth Godin’s book “Linchpin” in which he advocated that there were really only two things that today’s schools/ educators should teach;

1) How to lead,
2) How to solve interesting problems

Now Godin has gone a step further and written a discussion-provoking manifesto for education in the twenty first century entitled – “Stop Stealing Dreams”.

It’s free and downloadable and i believe the issues it raises need to be debated far and wide. Therefore, I urge you to download it here, read it and share it with others. Whilst it’s written from a US-centric perspective the relevance is universal in an ever more globally joined-up world.

If educators, school administrators and parents are going to provide the right kind of education for a changed/ changing world then we need people to be well informed. We’re unlikely to agree with everything Godin expresses in this document, but i believe we all need to be engaged in debates on these issues.
